Pack 538
Our Scouting program is chartered thru the Greater Alabama Council and meets at Asbury United Methodist Church. This charter is one of many granted by the Scouts BSA, which has had its federal charter granted each year since 1916 by the United States Congress. We are one of many Cub Scout Packs in the Shelby District, which is part of the Greater Alabama Council. Our Pack serves the Greystone, Mt. Laurel, Inverness and Oak Mountain School Districts.
Our Pack is made up of individual Dens. Each Den is a group of boys or girls in the same school grade. Each Den decides when to schedule their one to two Den meetings each month and what activities they will do. The Den’s Leaders along with a Scout’s parents help plan and organize the Den activities.
Once a month Dens meet at a Pack Meeting. At the Pack Meetings, the Scouts receive the achievement awards they earned during the past month. Most activities required for rank advancement can be done with the Scout’s family at home or with their Den at a meeting.
Pack 538 wishes to provide a variety of activities so that each family can attend as many of the events as possible and that fit each family’s schedule. Families are an important part of our Pack. Our Pack meetings, Den meetings, and Pack coordinated outings all require parent/family attendance. Additional information concerning outings is given at the Pack meetings usually the month prior to the event.
The role of the Pack Leadership is to assist you in teaching your child about God, Country, Family, and Self. The role of the Cub Scout is to “do your best.” These are the principal objectives of the Cub Scouting Program. We look forward to participating in this endeavor with you and your Scout
